El Nido believes in respecting our
natural resources through responsible tourism. The resort works
closely with the El Nido community in the prevention of illegal
fishing, promotion of coastal clean-ups, environmental education
campaigns, monitoring of snorkeling sites and dive sites, and
installation and maintenance of mooring buoys.
The El Nido Resortss also strive
to operate with minimal impact on the environment. Both El Nido
Resorts have desalinating plants which were installed to reduce
sourcing of water from watersheds in mainlang El Nido. The
desalinating plants amply provide water requirements for both
resorts.
In addition, sewage treatment
plants, (STPs) have been installed at both resorts to ensure
that the sewage generated would be rendered non-damaging to the
environment. Water recycled by the STP is used for flushing and
irrigation. The sun dried portions, on the other hand, are used
to fertilize plants in the gardens of both resorts.
Ten Knots Development Corporation,
the company behind El Nido Resorts, has established
Environmental Guarantee Fund. It has also set up an Ecotourism
Maintenance Fund which is used for environmental protection and
conservation projects. It is also used for monitoring the
resorts to ensure that the resorts are operating with minimal
impact to the environment
